Climbing Mt. Rishiri

Mt. Rishiri is very popular for mountaineers in Japan.
We do our best to help mountaineers to enjoy climbing
a mountain by their pace.
Feel free to ask anything.
About climbing Mt. Rishiri
  Because there are several dangerous points, Mt. Rishiri is a mountain
for the advanced from the intermediate rank mountaineers.
You need the preparation of food, water and clothes, considering
being in the mountain for 9-11 hours. Please give a climbing report
in the case of the sudden change of the weather and the accident.
We have a form in the inn.
Introduction of the course
  <Oshidomari Trail>
  1. The outline of the course
It is the most popular course. The ascent is monotonous until the middle,
and then it gets stony toward Mt. Chokan. There is a refuge hut between
8th and 9th station, and the flower field of the alpine plant is where
you passed the hut. It is a steep ascent from there. As you pass 9th station
and approach the summit of a mountain, the slope rises more steeply and
a foothold gets unstable. Climb carefully because a rope is drawn in the
dangerous places. Misty day is especially dangerous. We provide our guests
a map that explained a safe climbing route around the summit in detail by a photograph.
  2. Starting point of a trail
  Rishiri Hokuroku Yaeijou (north foot camp place) of about 3km from Oshidomari town is a starting point of a trail. It is about 2Km from the entrance of our inn.
You can go there by car.
  3. An approximate schedule.
  Distance / 8.4 Km
Ascent: 6 hours / Descent: 4 hours (Rest time at Mt. Chokan is contained;
30 min. for ascent, 15 min. for descent.) You need 11 hours including
a rest for 1 hour at the top of the mountain, even on a fine day.
